Session Overview

In this session from the 2020 GovComms Festival, we hear from the Executive Director of Strategic Communications at Queensland Health, Robert Hoge.

Robert discusses the Queensland government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He begins by giving a background about the state of Queensland, which is useful for those living outside Australia.

Robert describes how Queensland’s history of dealing with natural disasters prepared Queensland’s politicians and public servants to dealing with COVID-19. According to Robert, Queensland residents are experienced at following advice from government in times of crisis.

He explains how Queensland Health puts communications at the forefront of their decision making. Robert also explores the specific actions that Queensland Health took to inform Queensland residents about COVID-19 and the public health advice.
