Kerri discusses her initial career as a journalist in the Parliamentary Press Gallery, reflecting on what she enjoyed about being a journalist and what she learnt during that time that would assist her in her public service career.

Kerri says that her time as a journalist assisted her public service career in giving her an understanding of audience, writing and messaging. She also discusses how she was able to transition from a journalism role to a public service role.

Kerri explains how government tended to devalue the communications function. She also explains why the government should take communications more seriously.

Kerri gives her opinion on where communications is heading over the next decade, and what communications professionals need to know about the coming changes.
