Australia’s Sustainable Ocean Economy
90-minute high-profile Webinar event
The Global Ocean Policy Section within the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment required contentgroup to produce a 90-minute, high-profile webinar event from their premises in the John Gorton Building, Parkes.
The 14 nation High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy (Ocean Panel) is the only ocean policy body comprising of world leaders. Established in 2018, the Ocean Panel is building momentum towards a sustainable ocean economy where effective protection, sustainable production and equitable prosperity go hand in hand.
The live webinar on 3 December 2020 marked the launch of a publication of international significance: Transformations for a Sustainable Ocean Economy. Opened by an address from Prime Minister the Hon Scott Morrison MP, the event featured leaders in sustainable seafood, Indigenous guardianship and equity, ocean and atmospheric science, and sustainable finance. Leading the panel also was Minister for the Environment, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, discussing opportunities and challenges for Australia’s sustainable ocean economy.

contentgroup worked closely with the Department to define and plan the parameters of the event. The webinar was relatively complex, with a mix of in-studio and remote speakers presenting during the event.
Given the public profile of the event, contentgroup ran multiple technical tests to ensure all remote panellists were able to present effectively on the day. We used the technology platform, Zoom, to produce all elements of the event from the registration page through to the final delivery of data and analytics reports. Following the event, the Department also received a recording of the broadcast and a copy of the transcript.
Following the event, the Department received a range of positive anecdotal feedback from both presenters and audience members. A total of 640 individuals registered for the event with 58 audience questions being asked of the expert panel.
