Design Thinking: Creating Shared Value and Driving Innovation

Session Overview:

In this presentation from the 2020 GovComms Festival, Research Fellow Dr. Taylor Willmott and Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele from Griffith University discuss the process of Design Thinking and the important role it plays in innovation and creativity.

In 2020, a significant degree of innovation and change was brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. For some people, this change was made by choice but for many this change had to happen in order for their business to survive. However, as Taylor and Sharyn argue, it should not take a global pandemic for change and innovation to take place.

The design thinking framework is a process to get people outside of their comfort zones so they can utilise change and use innovation to help their business move forward. In this presentation we not only see how this process works, but get to view real-world case studies of this process in action.

After watching this video, you will

  • Learn about the process and implementation of Design Thinking.
  • Know what environment you work most creatively in.
  • Understand the important role that change plays in innovation.
