Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC

Ms Sam Mostyn AC was sworn in as Australia’s 28th Governor-General on 1 July 2024.

A businesswoman and community leader, she is known for her exceptional service across business, sport, climate change, the arts, policy, and not-for-profit sectors.

In 2024, Ms Mostyn was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to social justice, gender equity, reconciliation, environmental sustainability and more. She was previously appointed an Officer of the Order in 2021.

She received the 2020 United Nations Day Honour Award and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from ANU in 2018 for her advocacy in gender equality and climate action.

Ms Mostyn has chaired the boards of Aware Super, Beyond Blue, ANROWS, The Climate Council and others, and served on corporate boards including Mirvac, Citi Australia and Transurban.

She was an AFL Commissioner for over a decade, co-founded the Minerva Network, and supported the creation of the AFL Women’s league.

She has also contributed to government reviews, held senior executive roles at IAG and Optus, and served on the boards of Reconciliation Australia and the Australia Council for the Arts.
