In this session from the 2020 GovComms Festival, Jeff French shows how government can adopt a more citizen-focused approach to social policy, and how government communications can meet this goal.

Jeff is a Visiting Professor at Brighton University and the CEO of Strategic Social Marketing.

Jeff explains why government communication professionals need to work with citizens to promote social development. He also explains how to create a more citizen-focused approach to social programs which lead to more effective and responsive services.

Jeff outlines the reasons why citizen-focused social policy is important in 2020, citing the low level of trust in government and the rapidly changing political, economic and health landscape.

Jeff also discusses the limitations of government, and some of the pervasive and popular myths around policy delivery that exist today.
