What makes a good Facebook landing page design?

A good landing page design can be the difference between zero and a million followers on Facebook. Ok, maybe not quite that many, but it’s pretty important. Not only does an attractive social media page design make you look smarter to viewers, it also leads to higher click rates and ultimately more clients. It may seem like there isn’t much to work with when it comes to Facebook page design as you only have control over the profile photo, cover photo and images you post in your newsfeed. It turns out that these three elements can actually make or break the look of the page and ultimately your attraction to viewers. Here are three tips for making a great Facebook landing page:

1. A good page starts with a good logo

It is important that you have a strong logo that reflects your brand values and appeals to your target audience. Your logo will need to appear on the majority of images you post on your page, so you need to make sure it is functional and memorable. Your logo should also be the basis of the appearance of all of the images you post on your page, which leads me to my next point …

2. Maintain consistent branding

Consistency builds trust in viewers and leads to better brand recognition. Coordinate all images you post to have the same colours, patterns, image styles and fonts, using your logo as your reference. Your branding should be consistent with your logo and you will want to include your logo on every image you post on your feed. You will also want to make sure you place images, text and vectors in the same place for all posts. An established look reflects an established brand.

3. Design the profile image and cover image to work together

Here’s an example of what I mean by this:

In the above Facebook landing page, the plane traverses both the profile image and cover image. This coordination adds a level of complexity to the page. It also causes the viewer to focus on the two images for a longer period of time, thus leading to better brand recognition. And surprisingly, it is not difficult for your designer to create matching images like this. This is a simple yet effective way to enhance your Facebook page design.

To wrap up, a good landing page makes your viewers take you seriously, remember your brand and trust it more. If your Facebook page needs a facelift, feel free to email me at libby.coy@contentgroup.com.au for more info.
